An exceptional opportunity has emerged to become a part of the NHS Scotland Macmillan Nursing Team. The Macmillan Oncology Nurse Specialist plays a crucial role, alongside fellow team members, in delivering the Nurse Led Chemotherapy Service. The successful candidate will be involved in providing comprehensive care for cancer patients, spanning from initial diagnosis through to palliative and end-of-life support.

The Band 6 role entails supporting and administering treatment to patients throughout their cancer journey, as well as collaborating with other professionals within the multidisciplinary team. Candidates with certifications in advanced practice are encouraged to apply. Training in the administration of SACT chemotherapy regimens is expected.

For those applying for the Band 5 development role, extensive training will be necessary to obtain the Post Graduate Certificates required for the Clinical Nurse Specialist position. This includes courses in SACT chemotherapy, Non-medical Prescribing, and Clinical Assessment for Advanced Practitioners. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal development. The Band 5 post holder will assist in the daily operations of the chemotherapy unit and will receive mentorship from Clinical Nurse Specialists to progress to the Band 6 level.

This rewarding position allows the successful candidate to collaborate with the Oncology & Palliative nursing team in delivering exceptional care across NHS Scotland. While primarily based in a hospital setting, the role will also involve home visits, necessitating a valid Full Driving Licence.
