We invite you to join our Power team as a Substation Resource Manager, where your contributions will have a meaningful impact on our projects.

This position is primarily based in our Derby office, overseeing various projects throughout the UK, with occasional travel required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and assign monthly paid staff and operatives to various projects.
  • Facilitate the professional growth of team members through our established tools and processes.
  • Ensure that regional resource needs are effectively met.
  • Collaborate with Power T&D Project Managers to guarantee that all necessary resources are available.
  • Manage the transfer of resources between projects as needed.
  • Engage with subcontract labor suppliers to fulfill resource demands.
  • Maintain proactive communication with internal stakeholders regarding joining instructions, PPE, IT, plant & fleet, training, and payroll.
  • Coordinate with other Power T&D resource managers to ensure seamless resource deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with the Power T&D Business Gated Lifecycle in all resource deployments.
  • Conduct weekly communications with projects to verify adherence to resource requests and address any immediate concerns.
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of direct employees, including completing Authority to Recruit (ATR) and offer documentation.
  • Work with subcontractors to confirm they have the necessary scope of work, durations, volumes, and orders before commencing tasks.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all documentation, PPE, IT, vehicles, and fuel cards are prepared.
  • Oversee the exit process for departing employees, ensuring all documentation and equipment are accounted for.
  • Generate and distribute reporting instructions to track resource movements between projects.
  • Document and manage any changes to resource requests.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Project Managers regarding resource-related issues.
  • Produce insightful Management Information to present resource-related data.
  • Supervise team members within the reporting line to support the execution of these responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Proven operational experience in substations is essential.
  • Strong planning capabilities, with familiarity in project management methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across operational and business support areas.
  • Technical knowledge of substations.
  • Capacity to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities while planning for contingencies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with individuals at various levels.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to allocate and manage resources effectively to meet both short-term and long-term objectives.
