Job Overview

The Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing of our residents by developing and implementing engaging programmes, outings, and events that cater to their diverse interests and preferences.

This position requires a skilled and compassionate individual who can work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary teams to create a warm, comfortable, and homely atmosphere that promotes independence, dignity, and respect for all residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and plan programmes, outings, and events that reflect the wishes and preferences of our residents, ensuring a high level of engagement and participation.
  • Support and enable residents to access social networks, maintain personal interests, and engage in activities that promote their physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Maintain skills at a current level and undertake training and development as required to stay up-to-date with best practices, agreed standards, and legislations.
Essential Requirements
  • Good English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Vocational qualification or willingness to obtain a qualification in a relevant field.
  • Certification as an Activities Professional by a recognised accrediting organisation, such as NAPA.
  • Valid driver's licence.
Desirable Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient computer skills to research activities, support residents to use the internet, and produce engaging posters and newsletters.
  • Leadership skills to encourage residents to participate in activities, motivate them, and keep them engaged throughout events.
  • Effective communication skills to work with diverse groups, listen to their needs, and provide support.
  • Problem-solving skills to address situations quickly and adapt activities to meet the needs of all residents.
  • Knowledge of event planning practices and techniques.
Personal Qualities
  • Strong speaking skills to communicate clearly and passionately with residents, answer questions, and keep them motivated.
Previous Experience
  • Previous experience working in a similar environment, such as a care home or residential setting.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role, such as an Activities Coordinator or similar position.
  • Experience working with people, particularly those who may have additional support needs.
  • Experience in event planning practices and techniques.
