About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemotherapy Trained CNS to join our team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments
    • Deliver systemic anti-cancer treatments safely and effectively in line with national and local guidance.
  • Provide Specialist Clinical Practice
    • Provide specialist clinical practice within a defined clinical area/caseload, prioritizing patient-centered care and adhering to Trust policies and national guidelines.
  • Work Collaboratively with the MDT
    • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to coordinate chemotherapy pathways and ensure timely referrals.
  • Assess Patient Care Needs
    • Assess patient care needs, develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care, and set standards for care delivery.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals
    • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and agencies across primary, secondary, and tertiary care to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Provide Expert Advice and Support
    • Provide expert advice, support, and education to patients, families, and colleagues within the healthcare team.
  • Deliver Nurse-Led Counseling and Services
    • Deliver nurse-led counseling and services within the chemotherapy department, assessing patients holistically and making clinical decisions on fitness for treatment.
  • Deputize for the Lead Chemotherapy CNS
    • In the absence of the Lead Chemotherapy CNS, deputize for the day-to-day operational running of the chemotherapy unit and wider NGS unit.
Requirements
  • Essential Qualifications and Experience
    • 1st level RGN qualification
    • 1st level degree or equivalent experience
    • Specialty-related course at degree level
    • Mentor/assessor course
    • Completed UKONS SACT passport
  • Desirable Qualifications and Experience
    • Teaching and assessing qualification
    • Non-medical prescriber (or willingness to work towards)
    • Advanced communication course
    • Sage and Thyme course
  • Essential Skills and Knowledge
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Audit experience and subsequent quality improvement
    • Evidence of continuing professional development
    • Sound IT skills

    • Chemotherapy delivery for haematology and solid tumour cancers
