Pastoral Officer Role

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Pastoral Officer to join our team at a secondary school in South London. As a key member of the pastoral team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing and discipline of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement inclusive strategies to improve student attendance and punctuality
  • Respond to instances of poor behaviour and handle behaviour referrals
  • Support the reintegration of excluded students
  • Work with multi-agency teams and parents to identify and address barriers to learning
  • Identify underachieving students and develop targeted interventions to improve their progress
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and good behaviour

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a secondary school environment as a pastoral officer, learning mentor, or behaviour mentor
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • Passion for working with vulnerable young people and removing barriers to learning
