We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Registered Animal Care Nurse to become a vital part of our dedicated nursing team at the University of Cambridge.

This referral center operates in a dynamic and fast-paced setting, necessitating adaptability and the ability to perform effectively under pressure. The primary responsibility will be to deliver nursing care of the highest quality within the Small Animal Wing, which includes four dog wards, two cat wards, critical care, and isolation areas, accommodating an average of 15-25 patients overnight.

We seek nurses who are willing to work around the clock, following a generous and appealing rotating shift schedule over a 7-week cycle. This includes core, early, late, night shifts, and designated time off (featuring a 10-day off shift period following night shifts). Weekend work is required (2 in 7). Rotas are thoughtfully organized in advance to assist employees in achieving a healthy work-life balance. The role in Small Animal inpatient care encompasses surgical, medical, and critical care nursing (training will be provided for critical care procedures). Responsibilities will also include cleaning, hygiene, and administrative tasks associated with inpatient care.

This position offers a diverse range of duties, ensuring that no two days are alike. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about nursing and possess strong communication skills to interact with staff, students, and clients at all levels. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is crucial. Support will be available from student nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants during shifts.
