CK Group is seeking an Animal Care Specialist to join a leading Life Science Service organization on a permanent basis.

The organization is renowned for supplying purpose-bred animals for biomedical research and associated services, playing a crucial role in the advancement of life-saving therapies and treatments for both humans and animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and observing animals as instructed by the team leader or designated Buddy.
  • Monitor and report on the environmental conditions of the animal unit, ensuring temperatures and the security of animal housing are maintained.
  • Maintain cleanliness in animal rooms and associated areas, adhering to established work instructions.
  • Accurately complete all necessary departmental records, including daily logs, production data, and stock availability.
  • Manage the receiving and dispatching of goods in and out of the animal facility, following appropriate sterilization protocols to uphold animal barrier status.
  • Assist in the production, birthing, weaning, sexing, counting, and weighing of animals.
  • Implement basic animal breeding systems and understand the significance of selecting replacement breeding stock.
  • Re-house and group animals in compliance with Home Office guidelines, as directed by the team leader.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
  • Level 2 Diploma in Animal Management.
  • Experience in routine manual tasks requiring attention to detail.
  • Background in routine animal husbandry practices.
  • Proficient in handling various animal species on-site.
