Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Surgical Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279). As a key member of our vascular ward, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leading a team of nursing professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and direct the provision of high-quality patient care on the 37-bedded vascular ward.
  • Take charge of the ward and ensure the effective management of bed flow and patient care.
  • Liaise with the vascular multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent standards of patient care are maintained.
  • Develop and implement care plans for patients, taking into account their individual needs and preferences.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members to ensure they are providing high-quality care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of nursing policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Registered General Nurse with extensive experience in surgical patient care.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.
  • Knowledge of vascular patient care and the ability to develop and implement care plans.
