About the Role:

The Graduate Project is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Youth Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in empowering young people in schools and communities who are at risk of school exclusion, grappling with mental health issues, or involved in Serious Youth Violence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with young people through dynamic one-on-one sessions, vibrant after-school programs, exciting positive activities, and enriching holiday initiatives.
  • Network and foster relationships with official bodies, community groups, and nonprofit youth organisations.
  • Establish a favourable and trustworthy relationship with the youth and local community.
  • Improve students involvement in education, demonstrating enhanced attendance, positive behaviour, and increased academic success.
  • Create and collaboratively shape programs that address the needs of young people.
  • Assist with the selection, training, and growth of volunteers.
  • Provide young people with information, advice, and guidance.
  • Deliver expert guidance and assistance to junior team members by overseeing their onboarding and offering training sessions.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience working directly with young people, including engaging in activities such as mentoring, providing support, facilitating educational programs.
  • Level 3 qualification in youth work.
  • Youth work degree or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Personal experience with the challenges faced by the young people they support.
  • Skilled in building and nurturing relationships.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices.
