Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commissions of varying sizes, advising clients on feasibility studies, and managing the estimating and cost planning stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commission Management: Manage commissions of varying sizes, including coaching junior staff, advising clients on feasibility studies, and managing the estimating and cost planning stages.
- Client Advisory: Advise clients on their procurement options, manage the pre-qualification stage, produce the tender list, and compile the contractual documents.
- Cost Planning and Estimating: Manage the estimating and cost planning stages, including presenting the final cost plan to the client.
- Tendering and Procurement: Manage the tendering and procurement process, including producing the tender report and compiling the contractual documents.
- Contract Administration: Conduct the role of contract administrator, including dealing effectively with post-contract cost variances and the change control processes.
- Cost Control: Produce monthly post-contract cost reports via our Cost Control App and present them to the client.
- Negotiation and Agreement: Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients.
- Team Leadership: Lead a cost management team, ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities.
- Technology and Tools: Utilize our full suite of bespoke digital cost management tools and services, including The Hive: Benchmarking App, CostX, Market Rates App, eTender Platform, and Cost Control App.
- Carbon Accounting: Implement our Embodied Carbon Calculator, a bespoke carbon accounting tool, to produce carbon footprint reports.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the appropriate line manager.
- Marketing and Networking: Develop and maintain a professional network of peers and potential clients, and lead bid submissions.
- Internal Management: Manage internal fees, internal job costing, and resourcing requirements, and lead in the support, development, and mentorship of junior staff members.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: We would expect candidates to demonstrate a strong understanding of cost management principles and practices, and a relevant professional qualification such as RICS Chartership.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost management, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management services to clients.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost management software and tools, including The Hive: Benchmarking App, CostX, Market Rates App, eTender Platform, and Cost Control App.
