About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security System Engineer to join our Fleet team at Porterbrook. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our cyber security strategy to ensure the protection of our assets and the safety of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cyber Security Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive cyber security strategy to protect Porterbrook's assets and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Cyber Security Risk Assessment: Conduct regular cyber security risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities in our systems and assets.
  • Cyber Security Best Practice Promotion: Promote cyber security best practices throughout our engineering teams to ensure a culture of security awareness.
  • Customer Support: Provide support to our customers with their cyber security requirements under the NIS Directive.
  • Engineering Support: Support the engineering team with ERTMS cyber security and ensure that both new builds and existing asset systems are resilient to cyber failure/compromise.
  • Supplier/Product Assessment: Assess new technologies designed to better secure our fleet and ensure that they meet our cyber security requirements.
  • Data Security: Work with the Digital Engineering department to ensure that asset data is appropriately secured throughout the data pipeline, on vehicle, during transmission and at rest.
  • Cyber Security Standards Integration: Work with the Safety, Standards & Environment team to ensure integration of cyber security standards & Procedures into the Porterbrook Management System.
Requirements
  • Rail Engineering Background: A strong understanding of digital technology and rail-related cyber security.
  • Engineering or IT Related Degree: A degree in engineering or IT-related field.
  • Cyber Security Knowledge: Knowledge of Chief Information Security Officer responsibilities and cyber security trends.
