Red Sky Personnel is on the lookout for a highly skilled and seasoned Director of Air Traffic Operations to become a vital part of our client's organization.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the secure and effective management of Air Traffic Services, ensuring adherence to all necessary regulatory standards.

Key Objectives of the Role:

The Director of Air Traffic Operations will report directly to the Operations Director, overseeing the safe and effective management of Air Traffic Services within the designated airspace. This position requires strict compliance with Common Requirements ATM, UK CAA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks. Furthermore, the Director will be tasked with delivering an Air Traffic Engineering Service that fulfills all customer and regulatory obligations, including CAP 670.

Primary Duties:

  • Formulate and uphold policies and procedures to efficiently manage the Air Traffic operations, including the documentation and oversight of Significant Safety Critical Events (SCEs), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Just Culture, and Best Practices.
  • Guarantee compliance with all regulatory mandates.
  • Establish and maintain a Safety Management System (SMS) within Air Traffic Control, including conducting Gap Analysis to devise SMS strategies.
  • Ensure that Air Traffic Control personnel are adequately trained, qualified, and competent to perform their responsibilities.
  • Hold Air Traffic Control staff accountable for their safety performance.
  • Maintain an appropriate and compliant staffing level during operational hours, adhering to working time regulations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies on issues pertaining to Air Traffic Services.
  • Serve as the main contact for all matters related to Air Traffic Engineering and maintenance.
  • Establish necessary resources and financial oversight to operate a compliant Air Traffic function.
  • Engage in airport meetings as necessary.
  • Timely report any Air Traffic Services safety concerns to the Operations Director.
  • Act as the accountable manager for delivering services in accordance with operational and meteorological documentation.
  • Authorize the Engineering Manager of contracted service providers.
  • Inform the Engineering Manager of any proposed projects or developments that may affect Air Traffic Services equipment at the earliest opportunity.
  • Ensure that contracted personnel responsible for Air Traffic Engineering receive appropriate training as per the provider's training and competency framework.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week - Occasional unsociable hours may be necessary to meet operational needs.

Work Environment: Office-based with the requirement for periodic visits as needed.
