We are seeking a dedicated Paediatric Nurse with a strong interest in haemoglobinopathies, specifically Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia. As part of a specialized team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the care provided to patients within the community, particularly focusing on the borough of Croydon.

Key Responsibilities
Collaborating with a skilled team of healthcare professionals, the successful candidate will assist in the delivery and continuous improvement of a high-quality haemoglobinopathy service in the community.
The role involves providing care and support to individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease and thalassaemia, both in home settings and hospital environments, with the aim of enhancing care standards.
Key tasks include:
- Offering clinical and advisory support to patients with haemoglobinopathies as part of an integrated specialist team.
- Contributing to the development and evaluation of nursing and multidisciplinary team protocols and care plans.
- Ensuring that updated documents are communicated effectively to service users, their families, and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborating with patients and families to design and implement care programs, delivering advice to promote health, enhance quality of life, and prevent illness.
- Utilizing specialized skills for the assessment and interpretation of both acute and chronic conditions, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Providing guidance and clinical oversight following patient discharge.
- Conducting training and education on issues related to Haemoglobinopathy nursing.
- Establishing strong working relationships with other healthcare professionals in primary, secondary, and social care to ensure continuity of care for affected individuals and families.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Registered nurse qualification
- Holds or is working towards a relevant post-registration qualification
- Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in caring for patients with haemoglobinopathies.
Desirable
- Relevant post-registration qualification in haemoglobinopathies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Essential
- Understanding of sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, and related blood disorders
- Proficiency in cannulation and phlebotomy
