Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Carnell is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Leyland. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of our projects, ensuring accurate cost control and effective contract administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit quotations for works on maintenance contracts
  • Liaise with operational staff, clients, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Manage scheme costs on our cost system (Nav13) and raise queries where necessary
  • Attend internal and external meetings to discuss project progress and commercial matters
  • Manage the subcontract supply chain, issuing orders, assessing subcontract AFPs, and processing payments
  • Carry out reconciliation of cost and value through a monthly CVR process
  • Assess and submit quotations and compensation events
Requirements:
  • Surveying degree or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Experience of working as a Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractor
  • Knowledge of NEC3/4 and working on frameworks
  • Experience of digital systems, particularly Microsoft
  • Demonstrable record of supporting the commercial team managing complex, high-value contracts
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and Word

  • Excellent ability to work independently and within a team
  • Enthusiastic and willingness to take ownership of contracts/frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational skills with proven time management
  • High levels of numeracy, written language, and communication
  • Full UK clean driving licence
  • Awareness of NEC 4 contracts and options desirable
  • High level of attention to detail and methodical approach to work
  • Ability to analyse data and provide detailed reports
