Job Purpose

Carnell is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team in Leyland. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of Civil Engineering and Highways.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Prepare and submit quotations for maintenance contracts
  • Liaise with operational staff, clients, and subcontractors
  • Ensure accurate scheme costs on the Nav13 system and raise queries as necessary
  • Attend internal and external meetings, both electronically and face-to-face
  • Manage the subcontract supply chain, issuing orders, assessing subcontract AFPs, and processing payments
  • Perform cost and value reconciliation through a monthly CVR process
  • Assess and submit quotations and compensation events

Qualifications/Experience

  • Surveying degree or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Experience working as a Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractor
  • Knowledge of NEC3/4 and working on frameworks
  • Experience with digital systems, particularly Microsoft
  • Demonstrable record of supporting the commercial team with complex, high-value contracts
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and Word

  • Excellent ability to work independently and within a team
  • Enthusiastic and willingness to take ownership of contracts/frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational skills with proven time management
  • High levels of numeracy, written language, and communication
  • Full UK clean driving licence
  • Awareness of NEC 4 contracts and options desirable
  • High level of attention to detail and methodical approach to work
  • Ability to analyse data and provide detailed reports
