About the Role

In this exciting role as an AWS Cloud Reliability Engineer at Inmarsat, you will be part of the Connectivity Platforms and Software team, responsible for delivering a stable cloud environment for various cross-functional teams. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the reliability and observability of our cloud-based services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reliability Engineering: Identify and close observability gaps within existing systems, working closely with scrum teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Cloud Platform Engineering: Design, develop, and deploy cloud-based solutions that enable scrum teams to deliver faster, while maintaining a high level of reliability and performance.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Deploy solutions using Infrastructure as Code and maintain the platform that our software services are built upon.
  • Reliability Practices: Establish good reliability practices into new and existing software systems, including runbooks and reliability metrics.
  • Outage Investigation: Investigate outages across multiple system components to meet our SLOs (Service Level Objectives) and provide long-term fixes to increase reliability.
Requirements
  • Cloud Experience: Exposure to distributed systems, container technologies, high availability, and cloud environments (particularly AWS).
  • Programming Skills: Excellent understanding of the Linux operating system and programming experience in an OO language (i.e., Python or C++).
  • Observability and Reliability: Good knowledge of observability and techniques for building and deploying reliable software.
  • Networking and Databases: Good understanding of networking and SDN (Software Defined Networking) and good knowledge of databases (Postgres and MongoDB).
  • Agile Development: Comfortable working in an agile development environment.
