About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Manager to join our team at Lidl GB. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for managing operational and capital expenditure accounts, identifying and understanding spend drivers through in-depth analysis, and overseeing the cross-departmental Operational Budget planning process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage operational and capital expenditure accounts to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to identify and understand spend drivers, and develop strategies to optimize costs.
  • Oversee the cross-departmental Operational Budget planning process to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide monthly budget updates and mid-year financial plan revisions.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reporting and Procurement KPI reports to senior management.
  • Act as the point of contact for cost management between Procurement and relevant internal departments.
  • Ensure the organization's internal cost management procedures are accurate and well maintained.
  • Present financial updates to Senior Management as required.
  • Oversee the update and any relevant communication of all Cost Management tools.
  • Liaise with category managers to identify and implement cost saving potential.
  • Provide advice and guidance for category managers on cost management topics.
  • Work on strategic projects with high level of autonomy and leadership as well as with high level of exposure to Board of Directors within Lidl GB.
  • Work with main business stakeholders to identify service optimisation and value improvement opportunities.
  • Provide support to the wider team throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an analytical role with a track record of successfully managing cost and data analysis projects.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think critically.
  • Interpersonal skills to build relationships, manage expectations, and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Exemplify a strong attention to detail, thoroughness, and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in creating clear and concise reports and dashboards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and familiarity with VBA.
  • Familiarity with Accounting principles and practices is desirable.
  • Comfortable challenging existing processes and implementing change.
  • Ability to work with Word, PowerPoint.
  • Driving licence is desirable.
