About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Manager to join our team at Setsquare Recruitment. As a Senior Development Manager, you will play a key role in leading and managing the development process, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and comply with the company's SHE policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice within the business unit.
  • Allocate resources within delegated authorities.
  • Support the achievement of the annual financial budget (operating profit) for the business unit.
  • Manage the process of design solutions.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate internal staff and external consultants on projects to establish their full commercial contribution to the organisation.
  • Support the winning of contracts while minimising risk and maximising gross profit, particularly in the management of the design process.
  • Undertake and complete technical reports for new land and business opportunities, where required.
  • Manage and collate information required for each project, e.g. Planning, Building Control, BREEAM, CODE Building for life, HQI, NHBC, and SBD information/requirements.
  • Select, propose, and appoint external design consultants.
  • Monitor and control professional fees and budget on appointed projects, ensuring the Commercial team are aware of any spend and update cost to complete.
  • Manage the process of designing solutions that meet business commercial needs.
  • Support the commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors during the project life cycle.
  • Assess, control, and mitigate risks and implement the company's risk policy.
  • Support the project teams to fulfil contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs.
Requirements
  • Construction/design related HNC/HND/Degree.
  • Relevant CSCS card.
  • Residential development experience.
  • Ability to deliver mixed tenure regeneration projects on brownfield sites.
  • Management of design consultants.
  • Building and maintaining internal and external relationships.
  • Contract and commercial awareness.
  • Professional aptitude with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Good time management with the ability to multitask.
  • Strives for continuous improvement for the benefit of the company.
  • Good technical knowledge and skills.
  • Experience in the social/affordable housing and healthcare sectors.
Desirable
  • Member of Professional Body CIOB/RIBA/RICS.
