Production Support Operations Manager

This newly established position within a North Sea operator will oversee the Production Support Team, focusing on defining and visualizing asset KPIs, optimizing production loss management, implementing cost-effective chemical solutions, and facilitating asset planning and hydrocarbon allocation to enhance operated asset performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance water injection and production across all fields of the asset.
  • Develop a comprehensive process and production loss management system, introducing real-time data solutions to boost production efficiency.
  • Ensure exemplary stewardship of field allocation and metering systems, along with production databases, to resolve longstanding metering and allocation challenges.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into process-related plant failures impacting safety, production/injection efficiency, and equipment availability, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed with effective engineering solutions.
  • Manage Production Chemistry, including mitigating platform flow assurance risks and optimizing chemical applications while controlling chemical costs through effective contract management.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Exemplify compliance with HSE policies and drive adherence in all areas of responsibility.
  • Leadership: Effectively manage and coach team members, providing clarity on expectations and supporting individual and team development.
  • Financial: Oversee budgetary responsibilities for specific areas, ensuring delivery of budgeted outputs and costs while evaluating the commercial viability of proposals.
  • Technical: Ensure that Production Support team objectives align with safety, production, environmental, and financial goals as directed by management.
  • Provide direct Facility Process Engineering and Measurement technical support to offshore teams.
  • Develop and manage a best-in-class Loss Management process, including quantification and capture of losses, root cause analysis, and management of remedial actions.
  • Oversee the Allocation and Measurement process, including the management of third-party metering services contracts.
  • Identify and communicate issues related to Production and Injection performance.
  • Encourage a culture of Production Efficiency and Plant Uptime within the organization.
  • Foster strong internal relationships between offshore and onshore asset teams and the broader business.
  • Monitor the performance of installed production equipment and conduct process system modeling, optimization, vulnerability assessments, and debottlenecking.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of oil/gas production, water production/injection, and production loss/deferment data.

Job Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in engineering and production operations.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities with a strong track record.
  • Experience in managing the design and implementation of production improvement initiatives, including workflows, standards, and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in UK oil and gas industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience in conducting and facilitating engineering studies and investigations.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills at all organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with real-time surveillance, static data systems, event management systems, data visualization software, measurement concepts, and production data storage systems.
  • Experience with potential oilfield enhancements related to Big Data and Digital Transformation.
