Newly created role in a North Sea operator. This role will lead the Production Support Team to define and visualize asset KPIs, deliver best in class optimisation and production loss management, cost effective chemistry, asset planning and hydrocarbon allocation and metering to support operated asset performance.


Key objectives include identifying opportunities to maximise water injection and production across all the fields of the Asset. Developing a robust process and production loss management system, introducing real time data solutions as well as identifying opportunities to increase Production Efficiency. Best in class stewardship of field allocation and metering systems, production databases and sourcing effective solutions to long standing metering and allocation problems.


The Production Support Team Lead will ensure investigations are conducted into process related plant failures which impact safety, production / injection efficiency, and equipment availability. They will ensure root causes are identified and provide proposals for effective engineering solutions and steward them through to completion.


The Production Support Team Lead will also be responsible for Production Chemistry including managing and mitigate platform flow assurance risks, ensure optimum application of chemicals, and managing and reducing chemical costs through effective accountability of contract ownership.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Safety - Role-models compliance with HSE policy. Drives compliance in all areas of responsibility.
  • Leadership - Manages and coaches people effectively. Provides clarity regarding expectations and supports teams and individuals.
  • Financial - Has budgetary responsibility for one or more areas and manages teams to ensure the delivery of budgeted outputs and costs. Considers the commercial viability of all proposals in terms of cost, benefit and risk, and utilises resources to best effect
  • Technical - Ensures Production Support team objectives are delivered in line with safety, production, environmental and financial objectives as directed by the Asset Manager and as defined by the COO.
  • Provide direct Facility Process Engineering and Measurement technical support to offshore and Support Hub.
  • Develop, implement, and manage best-in-class Loss Management process including quantification and capture of losses, RCA investigations, and identification and management of remedial actions.
  • Develop, implement, and manage best-in-class Allocation and Measurement process including ownership and management of 3rd party metering services contract
  • Identify and communicate Production and Injection bad actors.
  • Ensure Process Engineering technical support is available
  • Proactively encourage a Production Efficiency and Plant Uptime culture within the company.
  • Develop and manage strong internal relationships between offshore, onshore asset peer teams, and wider business
  • Monitor performance of installed production equipment and perform process system modelling, optimisation, vulnerability assessments and debottlenecking.
  • Proactively manage and maintain a comprehensive database of oil/gas production, water production/injection and production loss/deferment data.

Job specific skills and knowledge

  • Experienced oil and gas industry professional, with experience gained in an engineering and production operations environment.
  • Excellent problem solver with demonstrable track record.
  • Demonstrable experience with managing design and implementation of production improvement initiatives including work flows, standards and procedures.
  • Knowledgable in the application of relevant UK oil and gas industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Experienced in carrying out and facilitating engineering studies and investigations.
  • Exceptional relationship-builder at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Knowledgable in the areas of real time surveillance and static data systems, event management systems, data visualisation software, measurement concepts and production data storage systems.
  • Demonstrable experience with potential oilfield enhancements and opportunities relating to Big Data and Digital Transformation.
