Senior Resilience Specialist

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
Hours: 36 per week

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a highly skilled and versatile resilience expert to become a vital part of the Council's Corporate Resilience Team. The primary function of this service is to strategize and react to incidents, ensuring a robust Council while collaborating with partners to foster a safe and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the formulation and validation of our comprehensive suite of resilience plans and protocols to guarantee effective and efficient planning and response.
  2. Manage our training and exercise strategies to enhance preparedness.
  3. Develop corporate resilience methodologies to strengthen organizational capabilities.
  4. Provide leadership on resilience-related issues and offer expert guidance across Council Services and Localities, including senior management.

You will collaborate with a diverse range of external organizations, including Emergency and Health Services, and represent the service at multi-agency meetings to ensure the Council is equipped to prepare for and respond to significant emergencies and incidents impacting the area.

Required Qualifications:

You should possess in-depth, specialized knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act along with all pertinent national legislation and associated Codes of Practice related to business continuity, emergency planning, and community resilience. Extensive experience in applying these principles within a public service context is essential.

Additionally, significant experience in leading resilience responses to critical incidents is required. You must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a small team. Proven ability to manage varied and complex priorities with precision under pressure is crucial. Membership in a resilience professional organization and a postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field is expected.

Commitment to Diversity:

We are dedicated to fostering a workplace culture where all individuals feel valued, included, and empowered to perform at their best. We recognize the advantages that a diverse workforce, with varying values, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds, brings to our organization.

As part of our initiative to enhance our organizational culture and create an excellent working environment for the community, we aim to attract the best candidates, not only based on their skills and experience but also on their work approach.

To support this goal, we are transitioning to a behavioral and technical skills-based interview approach, moving away from traditional competency-based methods.
