About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Train Service Management Supervisor. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of train services across our network.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with the Network Delivery Manager to create a motivated and engaged working environment, promoting a culture that supports the development and improvement of Train Service Management.
  2. Maintain an overview of train services, particularly during times of disruption, and liaise with internal and external controls and station control points to coordinate Cross Boundary recovery arrangements.
  3. Supervise the train service management team in the delivery of a safe, efficient, and optimal daily train plan for all operators and their customers.
  4. Manage the performance of the daily train plan, communicating with operating locations and train operators to minimize customer disruption.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with train operators and other key industry partners to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  6. Lead the implementation of service recovery principles to restore the network to right-time running as soon as practicable.
  7. Coordinate the dissemination of information with the Information Coordinator in accordance with company standards and statutory requirements.
  8. Maintain a daily record of all applicable train running information and events using available systems.
  9. Ensure strict adherence to the Railway Operations Code for the VSTP process.
Requirements

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Experience of supervising teams within a highly pressurized operations environment.
  • Good negotiating skills and ability to make objective decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence others.
  • A thorough understanding of train planning principles and timetable composition.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the applicable route and wider network.
Desirable Qualifications

Previous experience of working within a safety-critical communications environment, knowledge of Network Rail and Train Operating Companies, and experience of railway industry operational rules and regulations would be advantageous.
