Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our Governance, Infrastructure and Sustainability team at the Scottish Funding Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in reviewing and analyzing the financial health and governance of our allocated portfolio of institutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a portfolio of institutions, providing effective review and analysis of their financial health and governance.
  2. Provide authoritative financial and governance advice to the Executive Team, SFC Board, Council, and its committees.
  3. Draft concise and impactful reports, providing timely information to stakeholders.
  4. Build strong relationships with institutions, supporting them in effective financial management and long-term financial planning.
  5. Stay up-to-date on changes in technical accounting developments, representing SFC in negotiations and discussions with external bodies.
Requirements:
  • Fully qualified accountant (CCBA, ACCA or ICAS).
  • Good understanding of business analysis, planning, budgeting, audit, and financial control issues.
  • Understanding of the Scottish and UK Government budgeting and accounting requirements and guidance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Diligent and organized to manage self and contribute to the work of the team.
  • Excellent people skills and track record in forming effective working relationships.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Proficient in desktop software packages, particularly Advanced Excel skills.
