About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery, as well as contributing to the development and delivery of our clinical service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery, including pre-operative assessment, anaesthesia, and post-operative care.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of our clinical service, including the development of policies and procedures, and the provision of education and training to junior staff.
- Participate in audit and quality improvement activities, including the collection and analysis of data, and the implementation of changes to improve patient care.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Contribute to the management and leadership of the anaesthetic department, including the development of budgets and the management of staff.
Person Specification
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree at time of application.
- Successful completion of FRCA or equivalent at time of application.
- Entry on the UK Specialist Register Via: oCCT, or proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date oCESR, or proposed CESR date must be within six months of interview date oEuropean Community Rights.
- Eligibility to work in the UK. Eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council at the time of appointment and with a current license to practice.
- Eligibility: Evidence of achievement in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice and supported by worked-based assessments of clinical performance and multisource feedback, or equivalent.
- Broad range of experience in anaesthetics with a sub-specialist interest that would complement the existing service.
- Paediatric fellowship/higher training desirable for all posts. Essential for one post.
- Regional fellowship/higher training desirable for all posts. Essential for one.
- Experience in PreAssessment would be desirable.
- Clinical Governance & Audit; Demonstrate awareness of good decision making; awareness of own limitations with a track record of engaging in clinical governance and learning from errors.Evidence of active participation in audit: candidates must demonstrate data from at least one personal audit over the last two years.
