About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetist to join our team at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver clinical services that meet national and local standards and targets.
  • Contribute to the delivery of an annual service plan, including patient activity and revenue.
  • Participate in audit and publish measures of outcomes appropriate to specialty.
  • Take part in departmental and hospital meetings, and contribute to the development of clinical governance and learning from errors.
  • Engage in clinical research and development, and actively participate in the General Medical Council revalidation process.
Person Specification
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree at time of application.
  • Successful completion of FRCA or equivalent at time of application.
  • Entry on the UK Specialist Register via CCT, CESR, or European Community Rights.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and full registration with the General Medical Council at the time of appointment.
  • Experience in anaesthetics with a sub-specialist interest that would complement the existing service.
  • Paediatric fellowship or higher training desirable for all posts, essential for one post.
  • Regional fellowship or higher training desirable for all posts, essential for one.
  • Experience in Pre-Assessment desirable.
  • Clinical Governance & Audit: demonstrate awareness of good decision making, awareness of own limitations, and a track record of engaging in clinical governance and learning from errors.
