Archive Conservator

We are seeking a highly skilled Archive Conservator to join our Department of Collection Care at the British Museum. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the care and preservation of our world-class collection.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of collection condition and develop effective environmental management solutions for long-term preservation.
- Lead on the care of the collection through temperature and relative humidity monitoring, pollutant control, and light management, ensuring the preservation of a wide range of organic and inorganic materials.
- Develop and disseminate guidance on preventive conservation, collection care, and risk management to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and improve the management and maintenance of the collection environmental monitoring system across the Museum's estate.
- Bring significant post-graduate experience of working in preventive conservation and a good general knowledge of the preventive care of a wide range of collections and materials.
- Experience of planning own work and objectives to deliver set objectives on time and to budget.
