About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Development Underwriter to join our Professional Indemnity team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting and assessing risk for products and accounts from assigned brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and assess risk for products and accounts from assigned brokers, making appropriate decisions within your underwriting authority.
- Consistently apply Travelers' underwriting principles to underwrite accounts and risks, considering different approaches to maximize profitability.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers, ensuring timely and accurate underwriting documentation.
- Manage your book of business, maintaining the quality of business required by our underwriting strategy.
- Accurately document underwriting information in account management systems and adhere to documentation standards.
- Develop and leverage broker/client relationships through high-level visibility and disciplined sales management.
- Create and achieve sales plans for assigned brokers, identifying and capturing new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues in other business units and regions to foster business development.
- Participate in regular underwriting and sales meetings, demonstrating superior customer service standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience in underwriting solicitors' professional indemnity is required.
- Degree education is preferred.
- Working knowledge of industry business operations, critical business issues, and financial drivers that affect our Line of Business.
- ACII qualification is preferred.
