About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substance Misuse Worker to join our dynamic and ambitious Young Person's Substance Misuse Service at Swindon Borough Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide substance misuse assessments and interventions for young people with complex needs, assisting them towards healthier lifestyle choices.
  • Offer advice, information, and harm reduction interventions on a one-to-one basis, relapse prevention support, and referrals to other relevant interventions to address substance misuse and related problems for young people.
  • Work collaboratively with a caseload that includes multi-agency working alongside a Social Worker, Youth Engagement Worker, YJS workers, CAMHS workers, and attend relevant support and planning meetings for these young people.
  • Lead large group interventions such as whole school assemblies or groups in the community.
Requirements
  • Hold a specialist qualification (at least level 4) in a related field, e.g., Diploma in Substance Misuse, Youth Justice, Youth Work, Mental Health, etc.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and policy context relating to substance misuse and the delivery of community substance misuse services.
  • Exhibit resilience, skills in risk management, ability to manage own time well, prioritize work, and possess excellent written and communication skills.
