Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer

Orion is seeking a skilled Electrical Project Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will turn electrical designs into practical, executable projects, ensuring efficient and cost-effective implementation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with electrical designers to turn conceptual designs into actionable projects.
  • Analyse 3D models to optimize cable routing and reduce costs.
  • Develop cable and termination schedules from wiring schematics.
  • Manage project progress trackers and oversee the commissioning of electrical installations.
  • Identify and resolve issues across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation disciplines.
  • Prepare quotations for additional project works as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop electrical solutions that meet client needs and industry regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and integrate new technologies into our designs.
  • Work with the sustainability team to ensure green solutions are prioritized in project designs.
  • Engage effectively with designers, maintenance teams, and clients to ensure strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide regular project updates and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate project teams, including engineers, technicians, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and engage with health and safety protocols at all project sites.
  • Ensure the implementation of quality assurance processes to deliver high-quality electrical solutions.
  • Assist in value engineering to identify and manage potential cost overruns.
  • Support project procurement timelines to optimize cash flow.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with project execution.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of project activities, including progress reports and milestone tracking.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience in electrical engineering with a strong background in project execution and commissioning.
  • Operational and maintenance engineering experience focused on plant improvements.
  • Proficiency in interpreting 3D models and design schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning electrical installations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with designers, maintenance teams, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Project.
  • Experience across multiple engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation.
  • Experience in material handling, heavy industrial machinery, or similar sectors is a plus.
