Somerset Bridge Group is seeking a Senior Catastrophic Injury Claims Specialist. This position entails overseeing a portfolio of complex claims, with the team operating in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage a selection of high-value catastrophic injury claims, each exceeding £2.5 million
- Enhance technical expertise within the Large Loss Technical Claims division
- Ensure prompt reservation of all newly assigned and internally reassigned claims
- Build and maintain trust in the Large Loss Technical Claims Team among Insurers and Reinsurers
- Serve as a technical reference point for the team
- Conduct evaluations of Legal Suppliers
- Guarantee reserving precision upon receipt of new information
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in managing catastrophic injury claims
- Proficient in handling diverse claims, including head and brain injuries, amputations, and severe spinal injuries
- In-depth understanding of CPR and multi-track litigation processes
- Strong negotiation skills for managing significant legal costs
- Familiarity with CRU procedures, including appeals and review mechanisms
- Willingness to travel across the UK for Case Conferences, Trials, and Joint Settlement Meetings
- Ability to cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Awareness of Re-insurance practices
- Experience in engaging with market bodies or working groups
- Preferably ACII qualified or making notable progress towards it
