Position Overview

CCI is composed of a dedicated team of over a hundred professionals across three policy units focusing on the creative industries, arts, and museum sectors, all supported by a skilled group of analysts. The Arts & Libraries division is committed to engaging with and supporting our exceptional arts and culture sector to amplify the personal, economic, and social advantages of culture at both local and national levels through strategic public investment and policy formulation. Recent initiatives undertaken by the team have included formulating policy recommendations on youth engagement and skills development, securing capital funding for the sector, and fostering creative excellence; as well as overseeing and facilitating the launch of several new cultural initiatives nationwide.

We currently have two exciting senior executive officer positions available, each with distinct contract durations:

  • Sponsorship Advisor (Arts Council England) - 2 years
  • Arts Policy Advisor - 1 year

Role Descriptions

Sponsorship Advisor (Arts Council England)

This position is centered around the sponsorship management of Arts Council England (ACE), the largest arms-length body under the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), with an annual budget of approximately £440 million. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and fast-paced team, where adaptability to shifting responsibilities in response to evolving ministerial and strategic priorities will be essential. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the Arts Council on pivotal projects to support the achievement of strategic objectives over the next three years, aligned with the priorities set by the DCMS Secretary of State and the Arts Council's strategy.
  • Leading the responses to inquiries regarding publicly funded organizations, ensuring assurance, oversight, and information are provided to senior DCMS staff and ministers.
  • Facilitating the governance of the DCMS / Arts Council England sponsorship relationship, which includes managing regular sponsorship meetings and supporting ongoing ministerial and senior-level engagement with the leadership of Arts Council England.

Arts Policy Advisor

This role is focused on the anticipated upcoming fiscal reviews and other budgetary events. Crafting a compelling narrative supported by a robust evidence base to advocate for fiscal review proposals will be a primary focus. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and fast-paced team, where the ability to adapt to changing responsibilities based on evolving ministerial and strategic priorities will be crucial. Responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the senior executive officer lead for upcoming fiscal events, including forthcoming spending reviews, across the Arts & Libraries team and in collaboration with other teams, including strategic policy and finance.
  • Establishing, managing, and nurturing effective working relationships with key stakeholders, both internal—including DCMS professional experts in finance, commercial, and legal matters—and external stakeholders from across the arts sector and other government departments.
  • Preparing briefings for ministers and senior civil servants, ensuring awareness of the audience and effectively framing key messages while adhering to departmental positions.

  • Proven experience in building strong working relationships, with a history of leveraging these effectively to achieve positive and high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivery, including experience in identifying risks and creatively developing solutions, simplifying complex issues into actionable steps, and implementing plans to achieve these.
  • A highly organized individual with experience in both leading distinct workstreams autonomously and collaborating within and across teams; maintaining a flexible approach to prioritization when working under pressure and with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyze and utilize qualitative and quantitative data sources to provide clear advice and manage reactive communications.
