Position Overview:

This role presents a unique opportunity within a distinguished Communications and Engagement team integral to local governance. As a key player, you will oversee specialized corporate, stakeholder, and workforce communications and engagement at a managerial level. Your responsibilities will encompass the execution of strategies linked to Greater Manchester's devolution initiatives and related organizational transformation efforts.

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Communications and Engagement (Corporate Communications), you will collaborate with vital stakeholders, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and council leaders. Your role will ensure that our initiatives and the devolution powers driving them are effectively communicated and understood by colleagues, partners, and the wider public.

Additionally, you will coordinate the provision of expert corporate and internal communications guidance for communications and engagement professionals working in directorate or policy-focused teams, particularly concerning complex or high-profile matters.


Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of corporate communications methodologies, strategies, and practices, particularly within a political context, supported by both theoretical understanding and practical experience.

You will demonstrate a commitment to embodying our organizational values, creating outstanding communications and engagement materials, and fostering a collaborative leadership style that builds strong relationships. Your ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve their goals while enhancing their professional development will be essential. You should be adept at navigating a complex, fast-paced, and politically sensitive environment while meeting tight deadlines.
