Job SummaryThe Director of Engineering will provide strategic vision and leadership in the effective delivery of Engineering, in a highly complex, safety-critical & regulated environment. This role is accountable for the Engineering capability at a strategic level within NATS, providing technical leadership and direction across the project and programme delivery teams as well as Operational Services as required.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Engineering Directorate, ensuring alignment with NATS' overall goals and objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to project and programme delivery teams, ensuring effective delivery of Engineering services.
- Accountable for the adoption of Technical Domain roadmaps, enabling the successful prioritization of competing engineering challenges and needs.
- Ensure effective partnering across all key stakeholders, ensuring common commitment to Engineering delivery.
- Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, serving as the ultimate escalation point for Engineering issue resolution.
- Develop and own design and technology standards aligned to NATS' Enterprise Architecture principles.
- Ensure safe, secure, and assured Engineering Designs.
- Develop and manage the Business Plan, ensuring the Engineering Division successfully delivers on all targeted goals (budget, schedule, and resource).
- BA/BSc/BEng Hons in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science) - MA/MSc in a relevant discipline is desirable.
- Chartered Engineer Status is Essential & Engineering Fellow is highly desirable.
- Significant experience of leading the delivery of operational engineering services underpinned by the service management model and principles.
- Sophisticated understanding of the levers that underpin service redesign and business/service transformation.
- Extensive track record of leading and delivering a significant portfolio of change within all constraints, able to take 'tough' decisions and see the required action through.
- Demonstrable capability in applying the principles and developing a culture of service management.
- Experience of delivery in large projects/programmes in a safety-critical, national infrastructure type environment.
- Experience developing and implementing engineering governance frameworks.
