Position Overview:

The Centre for Global Equality Ltd is in search of a proactive and highly organized professional with exceptional interpersonal skills to oversee our financial and operational activities.

As a UK-based civil society organization, we focus on developing innovative solutions to address challenges in sustainable development, particularly in areas such as food security, water access, health improvement, income generation, energy sustainability, climate action, and environmental protection.

We collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including civil society, academic institutions, governmental bodies, and private sector entities, to facilitate the co-creation of impactful solutions tailored to the needs of the communities we serve.

Through our extensive global network, we identify pressing issues faced by under-resourced communities in developing and emerging economies and align these challenges with the expertise of academic researchers, supporting them in proposal development and the execution of research initiatives.

Our organization also plays a crucial role in implementing research findings, which often necessitate substantial research and development efforts to ensure that the resulting innovations are contextually relevant and achieve the desired social and environmental benefits.

With a growing network of partners in low- and middle-income countries, our UK operations are managed from our Inclusive Innovation Hub, which serves as a collaborative space for our initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of the organization's financial resources, including bank account operations and payment processing.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software, ensuring all ledgers are up to date and reconciled.
  • Prepare financial reports for projects and programs as required by funding bodies.
  • Generate monthly management accounts and quarterly financial reports for the Board of Trustees.
  • Compile annual statutory accounts for audit purposes.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of financial policies and procedures.
  • Manage the organization's virtual office infrastructure, including digital content management systems.
  • Ensure the effective operation of physical facilities and the Inclusive Innovation Hub.
  • Collaborate with outsourced HR service providers to oversee human resources functions, including policy implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in collaboration with HR service providers.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a finance and operations role.
  • Professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in charity accounting and preparation of statutory financial statements.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office and accounting software like Xero.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience managing financial processes for large government grants, especially in international contexts.
  • Familiarity with international development frameworks, including log frames and Theory of Change.
  • Experience in an academic-related role at a UK university or similar institution.
  • Proven ability to manage office operations or similar facilities.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.

This role is integral to the operational and strategic success of the Centre for Global Equality Ltd, and the successful candidate will play a vital part in enhancing our systems and processes to uphold best practices across all areas of our work.
