Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Animation Director to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and creating the motion of all computer-generated characters, ensuring that all delivered shots support the vision of the Director and VFX Supervisor while maintaining the quality of our standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clients and VFX Supervisors to determine the creative and aesthetic approach to animation and character performance direction.
  • Work with Production to accurately bid and schedule work for the show.
  • Develop and implement technical setups and workflows for characters to be animated.
  • Lead and guide the animation crew to deliver high-quality performance.
  • Conduct quality control reviews on all animated elements prior to VFX Supervisor and Client review.
  • Communicate effectively with VFX Supervisors and artists to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior creative and production staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and techniques to ensure the animation team is equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
Requirements
  • Expert knowledge of traditional animation principles, acting, film production, and compositional design.
  • Significant proven experience in film VFX at a supervisory level, with a proven ability to deliver complex shots to the highest level of quality.
  • Good technical understanding of CG areas related to character build and movement.
  • A keen eye for detail and awareness of deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and leadership skills.
  • An ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
What We Offer

This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a Company designated location, and occasional remote work.
