Job Title: Engineering Technician - Baggage

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at Gatwick Airport. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for conducting planned and reactionary maintenance tasks on baggage systems, ensuring maximum operational uptime and high-quality performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake planned preventative and corrective maintenance on baggage systems, including conveyor systems, sortation machines, carousels, scanners, and IT-based control systems.
  • Ensure all engineering and operational records are updated to meet business, regulatory, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Proactively participate in performance improvement activities and programmes to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Take responsibility for safety, including the wearing of PPE, completing mandatory training, and reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Utilize GAL IT systems, including Ultimo, MyHub, P2W, and Microsoft Office, as required.
  • Develop skills and knowledge to maintain and operate existing and new assets, ensuring they perform at a required level.
  • Undertake role-specific training required for the role.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the airport campus, including passenger-facing areas and back-of-house zones.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently without close supervision.
  • Understanding and proven experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to carry out system performance improvements.
  • Able to carry out system performance improvements and knowledgeable of 17th Edition IEE wiring regulations.
  • The owner of a driving license.
