Job Title: Engineering Technician - Baggage

At Gatwick Airport, we are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our baggage handling systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance tasks on baggage systems, ensuring high standards and maximum operational uptime.
  • Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance, considering asset performance and operational requirements.
  • Update engineering and operational records to meet business, regulatory, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Proactively participate in performance improvement activities and programmes.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed, including the use of PPE and reporting of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Utilize GAL IT systems, including Ultimo, MyHub, P2W, and Microsoft Office, as required.
  • Develop skills and knowledge to maintain and operate existing and new assets, ensuring they perform at required levels.
  • Complete role-specific training and work collaboratively with colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Understanding and experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to carry out system performance improvements.
  • A qualified Engineer with knowledge of 17th Edition IEE wiring regulations.
  • Owner of a driving licence.
