About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to join our team at Pinderfields Hospital. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive acute and elective Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service, with a sub-specialist interest in the management of skin cancer and the development of a sentinel lymph node biopsy service and Mohs micrographic surgical service.

The successful candidate will be expected to work with colleagues to provide a comprehensive acute and elective Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service, including delivery of outpatient clinics, elective inpatient and day case surgery in Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury and District Hospital, and Pontefract General Infirmary. You will also be responsible for urgent and emergency care duties, including out of hours on call working within the provisions of working time regulations and safe working.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will be expected to participate in teaching, training, and audit, educational and clinical supervision of core trainees and specialist registrars. You will also be required to provide advice and support to the clinical team and peers in a range of clinical and/or leadership situations in a professional and appropriate manner which inspires confidence, motivation, and teamwork within the field.

Person Specification
  • Up to date knowledge, skills, and attitudes to the practice of OMFS
  • Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work
GDC / GMC Registration
  • Please state full GMC number
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist List for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Eligible for GDC registration
  • Evidence of post CCT experience/qualifications in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery e.g. successful completion of SAC approved CCST training programme in OMFS (eligible if completion within 6 months of the date of the appointment)
Qualifications
  • MBBS and BDS or equivalent
  • MFDS, MRCS, and FRCS (OMFS)
  • ATLS provider status
  • MFDS or equivalent
  • Prizes/Papers/Presentations
  • Audit or Quality Improvement Projects
  • Teaching qualification/awards
Management Skills
  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Possess good organisational and personal management skills
