Job Overview:

The role focuses on formulating engineering strategies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include leading the on-site engineering team, managing project budgets, overseeing contractual agreements, and acting as a primary interface for customer interactions. The position also involves providing leadership, technical guidance, and managing projects at the Sandwich facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capital Project Management: Oversee capital projects from initial concept through detailed design, installation, and validation, ensuring timely completion within budget while adhering to corporate and regulatory standards.
  • EHS Safety Studies: Lead and engage in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) hazard assessments, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Process Technical Support: Deliver technical support for plant operations and the development of new API processes, while contributing to talent development initiatives at Asymchem sites.
  • Process Engineering Assistance: Provide engineering support to the Process Development Facility (PDF) to fulfill operational standards and requirements.
  • Expertise in Problem Solving: Utilize chemical engineering expertise to address practical development and operational challenges within laboratory or PDF settings.
  • Enhancing Safety and Environmental Performance: Employ chemical engineering methodologies to improve safety, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability of development processes.
  • Process Safety Support: Offer process safety assistance within the facility, including conducting safety reviews and specialized assessments.
  • Material Compatibility Evaluations: Perform assessments of material compatibility and safety calculations to support process safety evaluations.
  • Lead Safety Assessments: Direct specialized safety reviews and Process Hazard Assessments (PHA) as required.
  • Exploration of New Technologies: Investigate emerging technologies that could enhance API business operations across various domains.
  • Support for Capital Development: Define project requirements, guide capital initiatives, and assist in implementing suitable design solutions.
  • Validation and Start-up Assistance: Aid in establishing validation criteria, reviewing validation protocols, and supporting commissioning and start-up efforts.
  • Change Management Implementation: Facilitate the execution of change management processes to ensure compliance with operational, documentation, EHS, and Quality standards.
  • Review and Investigation: Assess changes for technical accuracy and relevance, ensuring alignment with operational needs and adherence to Good Engineering Practices and EHS/Quality standards. Participate in Quality and Safety investigations as necessary.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

A degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical Engineering, or a degree in Science with a major in Chemistry.

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of managing capital projects from conceptual design to commissioning and validation.
  • Understanding of corporate and regulatory guidelines for project execution.
  • Familiarity with EHS hazard assessments, Good Manufacturing Practices, and process technical support.
  • Proficiency in providing process engineering support to meet operational standards.
  • Expertise in chemical engineering problem-solving and safety enhancement methodologies.
