Job Overview:

The position entails formulating engineering strategies aimed at boosting operational efficiency, reliability, and adherence to compliance standards. Key responsibilities include leading the on-site engineering team, managing project budgets, overseeing contractual agreements, and acting as a primary interface for customer interactions. The role also encompasses providing leadership and technical assistance while spearheading projects at our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capital Project Management: Oversee capital projects from initial concept through detailed design, installation, and validation, ensuring timely completion within budget and in accordance with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • EHS Safety Studies: Lead and engage in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) hazard assessments, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Process Technical Support: Deliver technical support for plant operations and new API process development while contributing to talent development initiatives.
  • Process Engineering Assistance: Provide engineering support to the Process Development Facility (PDF) to align with operational needs and standards.
  • Problem-Solving Expertise: Utilize chemical engineering principles to address practical challenges in laboratory or PDF settings.
  • Safety and Environmental Enhancements: Implement chemical engineering methodologies to enhance safety, operability, and environmental sustainability in development processes.
  • Process Safety Oversight: Offer process safety guidance within the facility, including conducting safety reviews and specialized assessments.
  • Material Compatibility Evaluations: Perform assessments and calculations related to material compatibility to support safety reviews.
  • Leadership in Safety Reviews: Direct specialized safety reviews and Process Hazard Assessments (PHA) as required.
  • Technology Exploration: Investigate new technologies that could enhance the API business across various domains.
  • Capital Development Support: Define project requirements, guide capital initiatives, and assist in implementing suitable design solutions.
  • Validation and Start-up Assistance: Aid in defining validation criteria, reviewing protocols, and supporting commissioning and start-up processes.
  • Change Management Support: Facilitate the implementation of change management to ensure compliance across operational, documentation, EHS, and Quality dimensions.
  • Review and Investigation: Assess changes for technical accuracy and relevance, ensuring alignment with operational needs and adherence to Good Engineering Practices and EHS/Quality standards.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

A degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical Engineering, or a degree in Science with a major in Chemistry.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience in managing capital projects from conceptual design to commissioning and validation.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and regulatory guidelines for project execution.
  • Familiarity with EHS hazard assessments, Good Manufacturing Practices, and process technical support.
  • Proficient in providing process engineering support to meet operational standards.
  • Expertise in chemical engineering problem-solving and safety enhancement techniques.
