The Maintenance Reliability Engineering (MRE) team at Amazon plays a crucial role in our operational success – they are responsible for ensuring that essential machinery operates smoothly at all times.

As an MRE Specialist, you will oversee a diverse array of equipment and work environments while adhering to Health and Safety best practices. Your efforts will contribute to the safety of your colleagues and minimize equipment downtime. Our MRE Specialists enhance the availability and quality of our machinery and strive to improve the operational landscape as well.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct proactive and preventative maintenance on various site equipment
  • Perform reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in an active distribution environment
  • Utilize advanced tools to optimize equipment performance
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and protocols
  • Assist in the training and development of onsite apprentices
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across multiple sites
A Day in the Life
Our MRE Specialists are stationed on-site, enabling them to respond swiftly to any machinery concerns. You will carry out a variety of planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates safely. As an MRE Specialist, you will also address breakdowns promptly, investigating issues and implementing solutions as efficiently as possible. You will have the opportunity to propose long-term enhancements.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will handle daily maintenance tasks such as plumbing and painting, and coordinate with contractors when external expertise is required.

You will work on various shifts to ensure our operations are supported around the clock, allowing Amazon to maintain its renowned delivery speed.

About the Team
Our Maintenance Reliability Engineering team is dedicated to keeping our equipment functioning at peak performance. We are a technically skilled group, comprised of excellent collaborators and guided by seasoned leaders. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers.

Some team members take on leadership roles, overseeing projects involving cutting-edge technology – some of which is unique to Amazon.

From implementing automated packaging systems to managing general site maintenance and repairing critical distribution equipment, our team addresses most aspects of Amazon's technical operations.

This includes ensuring compliance with legal standards, safeguarding everyone’s safety, and maximizing operational efficiency. There are numerous opportunities for career advancement, both within the MRE team and throughout Amazon.
Our focus is on minimizing downtime in Amazon's essential operations, ensuring timely order fulfillment for our customers. We often work during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.

If we identify a more efficient method for a task, we possess the skills and authority to develop and introduce innovative processes or state-of-the-art technology such as Amazon Robotics and our Complex Item Sorter.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Completed a full Engineering apprenticeship and/or possess a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline (City & Guilds Level 3, SVQ/IVQ)

  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language, both verbally and in writing

  • Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
  • Experience in condition-based monitoring
  • Experience with print and apply machinery
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
