About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director to lead our Private Client Tax team at Johnston Carmichael.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Portfolio Management: Manage a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring a high-quality tax compliance service and building on existing relationships with clients and their wider professional network.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide high-level technical and tax planning advice to clients, working as necessary with other Directors and Partners to ensure internal and external expectations are achieved.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor, train, and support team members, overseeing them in all aspects of the portfolio and ensuring deadlines and demands are met by the wider client engagement team.
  • Business Development: Develop and grow the department and the firm by identifying and progressing opportunities to promote the business in the marketplace, sourcing new opportunities and securing new work.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with internal (tax methodology and risk management) and external (regulatory) requirements.
Requirements
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively impact and influence others.
  • Technical Knowledge: Practical knowledge of compliance and advisory work with the ability to support the wider team/firm to supply advice to clients when required.
  • Qualifications and Experience: Qualified CA (or equivalent) and above, with relevant experience in this role preferred.
