Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs in a central Leeds school.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, term-time only, with a temporary to permanent contract available. The successful candidate will work closely with students aged 7-18 years, providing emotional and academic support to help them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:
  • Support students with a range of special educational needs, including ASC, ADHD, Attachment Disorders, and Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia.
  • Work one-to-one and in small groups with students, providing individualized support and encouragement.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Effectively manage and de-escalate challenging behavior, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students, understanding their unique needs and providing tailored support to meet their emotional and academic needs.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people with special educational needs, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Proven ability to de-escalate and manage challenging behavior, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • Sound understanding of social, emotional, and mental health, with the ability to provide effective support and guidance.
  • Empathetic, patient, and resilient individual with a passion for supporting young people.
