Inverness, Highland, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

About Us

At Scottish Water, we are dedicated to ensuring the safe management of waste water across Scotland. Our operations not only treat waste but also transform it into valuable resources, such as biosolids, which play a crucial role in sustainable agriculture.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Technical Specialist to enhance our Waste Management division. This role is pivotal in coordinating the recycling of biosolids from various operational sites, focusing on delivering benefits to agricultural stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with a team of Waste Management professionals to identify suitable agricultural fields for biosolid application.
  2. Focus on the northern regions of Scotland, ensuring compliance with the Safe Sludge Matrix requirements.
  3. Conduct thorough analyses of biosolids and soil to determine optimal application rates, while performing risk assessments related to environmental factors.
  4. Plan and manage biosolid applications to maintain storage capacity at Sludge Treatment Centres, ensuring exceptional service to agricultural partners.
  5. Monitor compliance with regulatory standards, including the Overall Performance Assessment (OPA) and the Water UK Biosolids Assurance Scheme (BAS).
  6. Oversee financial budgets and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  7. Manage supplier performance with a strong emphasis on health and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a customer-oriented approach, coupled with excellent organizational abilities to effectively plan and prioritize tasks. Analytical skills are essential, along with a willingness to learn and adapt technical knowledge in the field.

Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, is required. The role may involve physically demanding tasks, including soil sampling across varied terrains, so candidates should be prepared for outdoor work.

Employee Benefits

We value work-life balance and offer generous holiday allowances, flexible working arrangements, and family-friendly policies. Our commitment to employee well-being includes a comprehensive pension plan and life assurance.

Final Notes

We encourage all interested candidates to consider this opportunity, regardless of whether they meet every single requirement. Our recruitment process is designed to be inclusive, and we welcome requests for accommodations to support applicants during the hiring process.
