Substance Use Recovery Nurse

An exceptional opportunity has emerged to become part of a collaborative initiative focused on delivering substance use treatment and recovery services. This partnership aims to provide a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of individuals facing substance use challenges.
As a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to make positive changes in their lives. Your passion for helping others will be supported by a friendly and multidisciplinary team, ensuring you can thrive in your role.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn your capacity as a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber, you will engage in various interventions, including:
- Opiate substitute treatment (OST)
- Benzodiazepine reductions
- Alcohol and opiate detoxifications
- Relapse prevention medication management
You will also conduct health care assessments, administer detoxification medications, and provide essential screenings and vaccinations. Collaboration with mental health, physical health, and social care services will be a vital aspect of your role, fostering a holistic approach to care.
Participation in local prescriber meetings and clinical supervision will enhance your professional development, with full training and support provided by experienced clinical leaders. You will have the opportunity to influence service delivery and contribute to high-quality clinical services.

The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council or be a qualified Pharmacist with independent prescribing qualifications. You should be adept at managing all aspects of prescribing for opiates and overseeing alcohol detoxifications.
Joining an established team, you will need to exhibit excellent communication skills and organizational abilities. Your capacity to develop tailored support packages will be essential in meeting the diverse needs of service users. A genuine interest in engaging with individuals from various backgrounds, along with a deep sense of empathy and understanding, is crucial.
