About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to children and young people with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the Enhanced Treatment sub-team, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to provide consultation, assessment, and treatment services to children and young people.
  • Provide a generic service for non-urgent presentations, including direct clinical involvement, supervision, and oversight of cases.
  • Offer consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding the management of urgent assessments and risk.
  • Assess and manage children and young people with severe attachment difficulties, emerging personality disorders, and repeated self-harm.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based interventions, working across a range of theoretical models and treatments.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Brent Enhanced Treatment team, contributing to the development of new models of service to improve delivery and outcome.
  • Participate in the development of clinical protocols and contribute to the Brent CAMHS senior management group.
  • Contribute to leadership activities within the CAMHS-ED service line and participate in training and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
  • Primary Medical Degree and full GMC Registration.
  • Section 12 MHA Approved and Approved Clinician status or within 3 months of appointment.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date).
  • Competence in psycho-pharmacology and non-medication therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience in the assessment and management of children and young people with complex mental health needs and high risk.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance/Care Quality and ability to participate in Medical Audit and Quality Assurance.
  • Experience of teaching and supervision of junior staff and other disciplines.

  • Experience of Research and publication.
  • Experience in Paediatrics and neurodevelopmental disorders.

  • Excellent communication and empathic skills.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and experience of team working.
  • Sound organisational skills and ability to work on own initiative.
