Job Description

As a Payroll Administrator Trainee, you will work closely with our experienced Payroll Manager to gain hands-on practical experience in processing payroll for our diverse workforce. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the ins and outs of payroll administration, including statutory payments, deductions, and compliance with UK employment laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for employees.
  • Ensure accurate data entry of employee information, including tax codes, pay rates, and hours worked.
  • Support the calculation of statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, and SPP.
  • Help manage payroll queries from employees and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Learn how to maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll reports and reconciliation tasks.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices. Qualifications
    • Enthusiasm to Learn: A genuine interest in payroll and eagerness to develop your skills.
    • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
    • Numeracy Skills: Comfortable working with numbers and data.
    • Communication Skills: Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and handle queries effectively.
    • IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is desirable.
    • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (grade C/4 or above). A-levels or equivalent qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
