Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Leader to become an integral part of our Software Delivery division. This role demands a blend of leadership and technical expertise, guiding a team of engineers while actively contributing to their projects. The successful candidate will serve as a Technical Authority, influencing strategic decisions both within their team and across various teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow Technical Leaders to formulate long-term strategies aimed at enhancing product quality, security, performance, observability, and maintainability across Group Technology development teams, ensuring optimal outcomes for our clients.
  • Act as a Technical Authority within and across teams to efficiently resolve complex coding and engineering challenges, delivering lasting benefits to the organization and its customers.
  • Develop software that is easily adaptable for future iterations, enabling the organization to launch high-quality features promptly. Ensure that the solutions are purpose-fit, provide significant business value, adhere to quality standards, and align with established engineering practices.
  • Oversee and coordinate technical initiatives across multiple development teams to minimize redundancy, enhance collaboration, and clarify progress, facilitating smooth delivery of cross-functional projects.
  • Engage in ongoing research on relevant technologies, identifying and implementing opportunities for integration as appropriate. Utilize your technological knowledge to survey the external market landscape for insights, directions, and vendor solutions, ensuring our applications remain current, relevant, and efficient.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of alternative technology solutions, assessing associated benefits, costs, and risks; perform gap analyses and develop proof of concepts for new solutions.
  • Guide and collaborate with the 'Developer Community' to establish software development standards that enable our teams to deliver compliant software without hindering development processes.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of software testing frameworks and strategies is essential.
  • Proficient understanding of CI/CD and related release strategies is crucial.
  • Extensive experience with Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, is required.
  • Familiarity with Microservices patterns and frameworks is beneficial.
  • Technical expertise in the following areas is required:
    • Application Server: Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Open Liberty
    • Transactional Database: Azure SQL Database
    • Core Programming Languages: Java 17, Python (preferred)
    • User Interface: Angular / CSS / Bootstrap / JSP / Servlets / JavaScript / jQuery
    • Frameworks: Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud
    • Integration Platform: Azure API Management
    • Integration Protocols: HTTPS, SOAP, RESTful, IBM MQ, JDBC, CICS Transaction Gateway
    • Identity & Access Management: Tivoli Directory Server / LTPA / OAuth2 / ForgeRock
    • Batch Scheduler / Compute: Azure Functions
    • Source Code Management: Azure DevOps
    • Build / Deploy Scripts: Maven, Jython
    • CI / CD: Azure Pipelines
    • IDE: Eclipse
