A typical day in this position involves....
As an Overnight Support Specialist at Hestia, you will be instrumental in our Elms Lane Accommodation Based Service. Your efforts will have a direct impact on the lives of our clients, steering them towards empowerment and self-sufficiency.
No two days will be alike, and some of your responsibilities will include: supporting 9 male clients who may face mental health challenges, substance and alcohol misuse, and other complex support needs. You will collaborate with a broader team, including a service manager and fellow support specialists, to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
- Providing assistance to clients in crisis and ensuring they receive the necessary support
- Working alongside the development team in securing new services and maintaining existing ones
- Offering initial advice and security to clients, and contacting the On Call manager or emergency services when necessary
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment by logging and reporting maintenance issues according to procedures and assisting with the upkeep of the facility
- Ensuring the security of the premises through regular Health and Safety inspections, monitoring emergency alarm systems, and conducting routine patrols
- Responding to emergencies, taking appropriate action in the event of a fire or other incidents, and contacting emergency services as needed
- Keeping accurate records of all activities and work within the project in line with procedures
- Carrying out nightly cleaning duties as per the established rota
- Facilitating the smooth operation of the facility by implementing rules, policies, and procedures as required
- Accessing appropriate management and off-site support to handle situations as they arise
- Treating clients with dignity and respect in a calm and objective manner, especially in challenging situations
- Responding to out-of-hours telephone inquiries from clients, providing general support and access to emergency services if necessary
