About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fibre Engineer to join our team at Digital Waffle. As a Fibre Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining fibre-optic networks to deliver high-speed internet, voice, and video services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Plan FTTH Network Architecture

Develop and implement fibre-optic network architecture, including the layout of fibre cables, OLT placement, and ONU distribution.

Select and Procure FTTH Networking Equipment

Source and procure the necessary FTTH networking equipment and materials, ensuring optimal network performance.

Perform Capacity Planning

Conduct capacity planning to meet the current and future demands of residential subscribers.

Oversee Installation and Quality Check

Oversee and quality-check the installation of fibre-optic cables and associated hardware.

Conduct Optical Testing

Perform optical testing, including OTDR testing, to ensure that connections meet performance standards.

Troubleshoot and Resolve Network Issues

Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring high levels of uptime and reliability.

Maintain Compliance with Industry Standards

Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations related to FTTH networks.

Collaborate with Vendors and Suppliers

Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to source necessary hardware and materials.

Provide Technical Support

Provide technical support to customers, assisting with complex technical issues as needed.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a Related Field

A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven Experience in FTTH Network Design and Implementation

Proven experience in designing and implementing FTTH networks, with a strong focus on residential deployments.

In-Depth Knowledge of Fibre-Optic Technology

In-depth knowledge of fibre-optic technology, including fibre types, optical splitters, and related equipment.

Proficiency in Network Design and Capacity Planning

Proficiency in network design and capacity planning.

Familiarity with Industry Standards and Regulations

Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including Fiber to the Home Council (FTTH Council) recommendations.

Strong Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting Skills

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent Communication and Teamwork Abilities

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Project Management Experience
